Les than a month after Monterey Peninsula association District board members approved a novel system to elect trustees, they could be taking up the issue again.

In July trustees vot to change the in every one's mouth system of electing all five members at large to four at-large trustees and single member to represent Seaside. The district stretches from Marina to Big Sur

During public make comments [i]or[/i] remarks at Tuesday's board meeting, a former trustee, a representative from the American Civil Liberties Union and a close examiner disagreed with the decision and called for the board to rethink it.

"This creates a problem" said Elliot Ruchowitz-Roberts, chairman for the Monterey shire chapter of the ACLU in Northern California. "It is going to be difficult getting by way of the Voting Rights Act."

The way the district is divided up now, Ruchowitz-Roberts said that as a Carmel Highlands resident, he can promised for four at-large trustees,
